چکیده
Background: Symptomatic knee osteoarthritis (OA) is typically treated with hyaluronan-based intra-articular injections. Advanced OA patients are often unresponsive to hyaluronan. KiOmedine ® Carboxymethyl-Chitosan (CM-Chitosan), a novel fluid implant, was safe and effective for treating symptomatic OA. Objective: The objective of this study describe the efficacy single injection CM-Chitosan in advanced Methods: Patients enrolled APROOVE trial were identified: subgroup-1, BMI >30 kg/m 2 and/or Kellgren Lawrence (KL) grade III (n=39), subgroup-2, KL-grade (n=8). Within-group analyses performed using WOMAC scores OMERACT-OARSI responder criteria at 3 6 months. Results: In both subgroups, significant improvements all observed months (p<0.001 comparisons). A high rate subgroup-1 (63.2% 65.8%) subgroup-2 (57.1% 62.5%). Conclusion: This post hoc analysis showed that could be an therapeutic option Clinical registration number: Clinicaltrial.gov identifier: Net30679208.

Structural predictors of response to intra-articular steroid injection in symptomatic knee osteoarthritis
BACKGROUND The aim was to examine if structural factors could affect response to intra-articular steroid injections (IASI) in knee osteoarthritis (OA). METHOD Persons with painful knee OA participated in an open-label trial of IASI where radiographic joint space narrowing (JSN) and Kellgren-Lawrence (KL) grade, whole-organ magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scores (WORMS) and quantitative asses...

OBJECTIVES The objective of this study is to obtain pilot data from daily practice conditions of a viscosupplement made of a cross-linked high-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid (HA) combined with mannitol in patients with knee osteoarthritis (KOA). METHODS The data of 40 consecutive patients, 29 women and 11 men, who were prospectively followed up for 6 months, using a standardized procedure, ...
متن کاملIntra-articular injection of autologous mesenchymal stem cells in six patients with knee osteoarthritis.
BACKGROUND Osteoarthritis (OA) is a progressive disorder of the joints caused by gradual loss of articular cartilage, which naturally possesses a limited regenerative capacity. In the present study, the potential of intra-articular injection of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) has been evaluated in six osteoarthritic patients. METHODS Six female volunteers, average age of 54.56 years, with radio...
متن کاملAccuracy of injection and short-term pain relief following intra-articular corticosteroid injection in knee osteoarthritis – an observational study
BACKGROUND Intra-articular corticosteroid injections (IACI) are effective treatments for pain in knee osteoarthritis (KOA) but treatment response varies. There is uncertainty as to whether structural factors such as accurate placement of IACI affect outcome. We examined this question in a pragmatic observational study, using ultrasound (US) to verify accuracy of IACI. METHODS 105 subjects wit...
